About Dr. Chris...
After practicing as a critical care Registered Nurse for 10 years, Dr. Chris earned her DMD from the University of Kentucky and her certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Connecticut. She also spent a year fellowship in Orthodontics at U. Conn. and served on the faculty in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics for seven years there. She then joined Dr. Walter Doyle in practice and in teaching seminars.
Today, after 25 years in dentistry, Dr. Chris's approach to pediatric dentistry and orthodontics is based in prevention, with emphasis on orthodontic treatment procedures for the preschool and school-age child to improve the growth of the entire face. Her experience in practice management and her extensive knowledge of child behavior, parenting, and child management are elements integrated in her practice and teaching.
Dr. Chris is an Assistant Professor in the University of Louisville Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry, and at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.
About Dr. Gil Carney, course instructor
Working with Dr. Chris is Dr. Gil Carney, DMD, DC. Dr. Carney is an internationally known expert in occlusion and treatment involving TMJ disorders, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and a fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. Like Dr. Chris, Dr. Carney received much of his early training in orthodontics from Dr. Walter A. Doyle.
Since graduation in 1977 from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Carney has dedicated his professional education and career to practicing and teaching the art and science of treatment of the adult patient.
Dr. Carney's expertise in the growth and development of occlusion, posture and craniomandibular function, his experience in pain management and management of the adult patient treatment plan, and his invaluable understandings of what makes restorative, orthodontic, cosmetic and crown and bridge dentistry successful, are all integrated throughout the seminar series.
