So very often... A father’s love is a mystery to us... ...for the first and many years of our life. As a child, we may see that love as our most special. Or, as 'tough love'. As we grow, we find ourselves an adult, and begin to understand the frailties of adulthood. As years go by, we experience loving in a marriage, and with our own children. If we are very, very fortunate, we finally reach a point of a broad and amazing understanding... ...of our father’s love. What it made us. What we too often missed as life swirled by. How soon we had to miss him. How we yearned for the wisdom We never asked about, never gained. And, how our Daddy was as frail as we, how beloved he truly was to us, and how we must learn wisdom as did he! Love, This spring morning, take the time to notice the morning dew on the blades of grass. The fragrance of roses (like those in our garden) and other spring flowers. The unfolding of those blossoms. Pay attention - take the time - it is ecstasy. Spending eight years in Abu Dhabi, UAE, we learned how much the English cultures are steeped in the tradition of a hot cup of tea. It is a love affair, for sure. Afternoons in the clinic found us alternating between afternoon coffee and a cuppa (meaning tea). It depended on which parents were there, and what they chose to have served to them, while we drank the same and shared memories, home, experiences, and love. Flying to and from Abu Dhabi and Texas, I got to enjoy a wonderful cup of tea, served in a porcelain cup with a saucer and a little tiny tea bag bowl, a touch of cream and sometimes a bit of honey. Today, take a moment- Pause. Deep breath, belonging, loving. A Coffee? A Cuppa? Either way, share love. |
