Today, I talk about passion in providing orthodontic care, how it transforms a doctor’s life as it transforms children' lives, and why finishing and detailing in ortho is an ubiquitous challenge. This is the video addition to my article in the latest issue of the Journal of the American Orthodontic Society. If you are a doctor who loves treating children, you may find incredible joy and transformation of YOU, as well as of patients, in treating without sedation or O.R. THEN, the child AND parent can become greater, more capable, more appreciative and healthier. While you can't be perfect, you CAN be excellent! Here are some pointers on how to do that. Today I discuss how to determine the needs, if present, in the growing child in primary and/or mixed/transitional dentition. How to examine? Is there a need? And, if so, how to diagnose and plan which therapies would be best for the child. Often, I get questions from parents - including other dentists - about developmental challenges with their own children. This particular question from a dentist-DAD, about a 3-year-old mouth-breathing child, deals with a frequently-encountered developmental problem in small children. The pediatric dentist can do amazing — almost miraculous — life-transforming treatment WHEN he/she provides outstanding, needed orthodontic and orthopedic treatments. Here’s where to get outstanding orthodontic education. Joy for you and joy for the parents and patients! Why is Straight Wire Orthodontics NOT enough? Why do our pre-programmed brackets not give us desired finished results? To understand the heart-brain connection is priceless when you work with your young patients and their parents. During COVID-19, facemasks became common in many places. Humans are social, evolutionarily hard-wired to connect by looking at each others’ faces. Children’s maldevelopment and psychological effects on children and adults of wearing facemasks can be debilitating. |
